Mike Litman: The Belief Called Struggle

  • Deb L · 1 year ago
    Hi Mike...

Just had to thank you for your blog today! Yes...I was one to struggle with belief in myself, and having junk beliefs!! Always taking the easy road. But, now my back is against the wall, and I DON'T want to be out there in the workforce again. I told my husband I would give myself til June to prove I can bring money in...(he has been SOO generous as to let me be retired)...but, bills are mounting up slowly but surely because of the cost of living. I am doing several entrepreneurial ventures...and NOW just have to learn it well and 'git 'er done'!!

Thank you for your untiring emails to encourage to BELIEVE in OURSELVES! We CAN do anything we set our minds!!

    Sincerely,
    Deb

I guess that we didn't take the Little Engine that Could very seriously. Our belief systom has been all to often molded by our friends and family the reminded that it was difficult to do and that we probably couldn't. I do not remember when I was encouraged to try. Thank goodness for the availability of the motivational materials that we now have. I thank you for reminding me.

    Hey Mike,

I too love your emails. What I love about my life at the moment is the way things are happening to move me forward once I set my intention.

And the other thing I've noticed is that now I'm noticing, it's happening faster and sometimes like today the thoughts haven't even got properly organized in my head and there's an answer.

This thing about 'struggle' is what's been revolving in my mind over the last week, not so much in terms of struggle but that I need to be having more time out and more fun.

I've been working with some people I know and thinking about how they live their lives and observing how easy life seems for them. Not that they don't put any effort in but just how life seems to flow for them.

And then I've been wondering why my life seems to be soooo very busy and as soon as I complete one thing there are about 10 more to do without an end in sight. nd that whatever I do it never seems to be enough.

And your absolutely right, in order to do be having more time out and more fun I need to focus my attention on the natural, progressive flow.

Thankyou very much for the reminder.

Love life and live it creatively,

    Leanne Watson

GREAT BLOG Mike! Old belief systems are formed very early in life. Our perception is our reality. We have to change our perception to get a different reality.

this is so true. I was brought up to struggle, the great working class ethic, hard days work for a hard days pay, but over the years I have noticed people who dont appear to work exceptionally hard moving in leaps and bounds.

From now on my motto is not going to be struggle, it is going to be natural effort, step by step, getting it going and keeping it going. what you have emphasised here today is more of a natural flow coming from steady effort rather than slogging it out, blood and sweat etc.

    many thanks for the encouragement.

Actors and the mindset of struggle is one of the key factors keeping otherwise successful actors down. This is one of my hottest topics in the realm of performance and actor training. Performance success techniques is the focus of so many of my materials. THANK YOU for letting me know I'm on track!

Dear Mike: It seems with youre-mail you were talking to me directly because that is exectly I feel. I am in the same position of Deb who answer your e-mail that I do not want to go back into the work force but I have trying several internet so called oportunities and so far no luck. I just want to supplement my income and be able to help my fmily and most of all I want to have the feeling that I accopmlished something and prove my husband you can make money on line. MY HUSBAND IS REALLY AGAINST IT. thanks Mike God be with you and have a HAPPY EASTER TERESA

Mike--excellent blog today making a negative thought process into a positive. When I have had times that I previously considered struggles, I always re-labelled them as "challenges" as I always liked challenge. It is also reminded of the philosopher Nietzche who said "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". Here's to great efforts in the future--DoctorJ-www.mainelaserskincare.com

And so, what are the mantras we are saying to ourselves every morning, every evening, and when we have moments of self doubt?

    Here's mine, adapted from Les Brown;

I am blessed and highly favored,
I deserve good things to happen to me,
    I WILL live my dreams.

    I like Rob's & Carolyn's... Any one else?

    Mike,

Sabotage is very prevalent. But as long as you move forward and concentrate your thoughts on forward movement you will find what you need to learn to get past it.

If you see repeating problems, there is a lesson to be learned. The key is to make sure you are aware of the repeating.

And then you need to learn the valuable lesson.

There is a saying that goes, "When God sends you a present, he wraps it in a problem. The bigger the present, the bigger the problem."

You must be aware of this and concentrate on the problems that tend to repeat themselves.

Thank you for this excellent post to enlighten people. Most people's vocabulary is that: effort and struggle are similar or has the same meaning. There are also people who believe's you need to struggle to succeed. Thank you for pointing out that it doesn't have to be such way. It all depends on what meaning you give to words and those words will affect your life.

    Blessing to you all,

Michael. You mentioned excellent points and this was around increasing our awareness and effort being natural. By minimising resistance, we relax ourselves to go with the flow and discover amazing new opportunities through increased potential. Old habits, behaviours and beliefs drop away.

every morning I get up, its my intention to prospect by 8:30 - you know, a half an hour for people in the office to digest their coffee. normally, I dont get a phone call out till 10:30am. by 10:30, I have myself convinced that it didnt matter if the prospect blew me off or accepted my offer.

I have a long way to go.

Mike/guests, great comments i can only add never give up, never give in, never quit, and never stop. its not your aptitude but your attitude that makes your altitude, you have to put the blockages/failures of the past/present to stay the course, get lazer focused and keep reaching for stars, while accomplishing all your goals and dreams let nothing stand in your path towards your GOD given destiny.
  • Brenda Skidmore · 1 year ago
Mike-you do a great job of motivating others. I'm so grateful that I trusted a higher part of myself to let you teach me more. That was 2 years ago. After shaking off many of my fears and doubts, and continually putting in the effort I am now beginning to notice some real results.

Junk beliefs like life's hard, we must work hard and struggle to make it big, or we usually don't get what we wish for are all small, self-sabotage ego talk. We let those old outdated beliefs run our lives. I find another junk belief to be just as irritating, the small self ego talk of 'just play it safe'. We say that to ourselves everyday, and live our lives accordingly. We find a secure feeling in doing things this way.

It's a false sense of SECURITY though. Because I have found in all areas of my life whether it was in relationships, work, or career believing playing it safe most of the time is what messes so many people up, and almost never brings them more of what they really want. Usually less.

It did me until I was 47. Now please keep in mind that you can not always go out on a limb-beyond your comfort zone-in every single thing you set out to do. You will definitely take some unnecessary falls if you do. That would be a dangerous mentality to take. Don't overkill on it.

But, every once in a while, trust your inner instincts. Challenge yourself to accomplish more. And more importantly, lower your expectations in how fast you will be able to reach your goal. Be realistic, don't judge what another has managed to do and think you should also be able to reach it in that amount of time. Above all else do it at a nice steady pace that is good for you so you won't burn out on it and give up too soon (you never know how close you might actually be to getting what you want). Be open to learning every day, and never assume you will ever know it all.

With that being said...I'm so glad I took a chance on you Mike!

Mike... once again that was great!

For many years my intention to do something was very strong but the underlying thoughts I had going around and around in my brain were that it was too difficult, not easy for me... and so on - typical sabortage stuff! When I started to become more conscious of my thoughts and my self talk and changed those which were negative into more positive, I began achieving what I set out to... and the struggle and the effort fades away.

    Mike...

I truly enjoy and appreciate your words of wisdom and motivation which help me stay focused on my intentions and goals, not always easy. Your post today really resonated and clarified that I still hold too many junk beliefs, one of which is that I have always been taught that everything is supposed to be a struggle. I guess I still have a way to go in consistently maintaining a 100% abundance mentality. Thanks again

    Mike,

Funny how I have been aware recently that I think of a person and they either call me or "show up" unannounced...spooky. But, I liken it to what you describe here, as the effort is my thinking about that which I want, and dampen the old thoughts of how much I am struggling to keep the business rolling. You are on time once again.

    Peace.

    Hey Mike!

This is a great blog post! I think it's very true that sometimes all it takes is a little "convincing" yourself that things are easy, and as you think about it, you bring about circumstances that will make that happen - the law of attraction! =)

I also use the Ho'oponopono method devised by the Hawaiaan's.. Basically, you just say to yourself the words, "I love you", "I'm sorry", "Please forgive me" and "Thank you" over and over again.

If you're as curious as me as to how this works when I first heard it, you can read all about the Ho'oponopono method here.

P.S. I heard Brian told you about the Facebook Group I set up yesterday! =)

Thank you Mike for remind me this truth.Truly I was conditioned to believe the word struggle; but it has never convinced me.Successful people are not STRUGGLING.Victorious people are not STRUGGLING.I do not believe that by struggling we can reach or do anything worthwhile.Looking back I can see clearly that all my success did not happen because of the struggle but through EFFORT.You are right.

I'm reading Eckhardt Tolle's A new Earth, and it has the same message. The old stories, the old beliefs (note the LIE in belief) are not us, but only the voice of the ego, a thought construct. Change the thought, or silence it to allow Presence, and the struggle goes away.

    What a concept!

Jesus exhorts us by telling us the path of His will for our lives is narrow and not necessarily easy. On that path we find a life that is full to overflowing with the rewards and goodness of God. No one desires to struggle; all of us want to experience the best for our lives. But the best doesn't come without cost...there is a price we must pay. In order to experience the blessings of God, we must first willingly conform our will to the will of our Father.

Remember, blessings come only when we pursue God's will for our lives.

    Daily Confession
Father, I thank You that I am willing and obedient and I eat the best of the land. I keep Your commandment and pursue Your will for my life. I am not conformed to this world but I am transformed by renewing my mind, proving Your perfect will.
    -------------------------------------------------------
Let us stay in the 'Word' reading and Speaking it Daily, Living in Power and Grace, for if God go before us, Who can come against us?

Rejoice! HE goes before us and shows us the Way. Remember, Easter is about YOUR Ressurection as well as Christ's ... Let's follow.

    Mike,
You always seem to know when to hit a home run...
Yes, for years, I too have used the word "struggle."
NO MORE, IT IS BANISHED FROM MY VOCABULARY.

MY MANTRA....ALL DAY & NIGHT LONG
    "MAKING MONEY IS EASY"
    "I'M A MONEY MAGNET"

THERE ARE WORDS THAT EMPOWER AND WORDS THAT DIS-EMPOWER, AND 'STRUGGLE' IS A POWERFUL NEGATIVE WORD.

OUR THOUGHTS/WORDS ARE MAGNETS, WHAT YOU PUT OUT THERE IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO GET BACK.

WE LIVE IN MIND AND IT CAN ONLY RETURN TO US WHAT WE THINK INTO IT!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME THAT I ALLOWED A WEED TO GROW IN MY MENTAL GARDEN.

    YOU'RE THE GREATEST!

I chanced upon this blog site and what doI discover....?
A treasurechest of mindblowing positve inferences to activate the 'alpha' in you.
Who is this mind above the mind that delivers such deliberate knowledge....?
Deliberate, because with the somnabulent state that STRUGGLE has put us into there is nothing better than to be awakened by adeliberate law ofaction and effort.
My, my what wonderful content for a gavel club in your area.
